April Mullen was brought up magically in the city of wonder Niagara Falls…
She left to study at “Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto” where she received a B.F.A. Honors. She skipped over to the United Kingdom to further her training at the prestigious “Royal Welsh College of Drama”.
Skilled both in front and behind the camera April has been producing and directing for ten years and acting for over fifteen years. Some of April’s film and television credits include Good Dog II, The Ladies Man, Howie Do It, A History of Violence, Suburban Madness, Rose, 1-800-Missing and Cavedweller. It was her leading role in Cavedweller (an Original Showtime feature), that got her nominated for Best Leading Actress by the Young Artist Awards in Los Angeles.
This young spirit had had the opportunity to work with great director such as Lisa Cholodenko, Robert Dorhelm, and David Cronenberg.
On the production end, April is co-founder of the award winning production company Wango Films Inc., which specializes in comedic feature film. April’s first project with the company was the feature film Rock, Paper, Scissors: The Way of the Tosser, which she produced and directed. The film went on to garner international acclaim and numerous awards from around the globe.
Her second film with the company, GravyTrain, which she also produced and directed, was theatrically released in Canada in April of 2010 and moved into the international marketplace. Both Tosser and GravyTrain were picked up by Alliance Films for distribution in Canada and can be seen on store shelves and a variety of Pay TV channels across the nation.
April put the finishing touches on Canada’s first Stereoscopic 3D feature film, Dead Before Dawn 3D making her the youngest and first female to direct a film of this kind. Next up she is working on a 13-part comedy TV Series and numerous feature films.
Mullen hits the creative field as a strong passionate individual with the energy of child and great humility. She enjoys oil painting, writing, editing, directing, risk taking and filming. April is an artist hoping to inspire and lift others through her work.
