Spotlight on… Martha MacIsaac

Being the first cast member to be unveiled this week-end, just have a look at Martha MacIsaac’s movie profile to learn more about her.

Martha MacIsaac was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She made her first splash there when she became featured on the Government of PEI tourism brochures and “Come play on my Island” television commercials.

She was chosen to star as the orphan Emily Byrd Starr on Emily of New Moon,  based on the books by L.M. Montgomery. When the series finished, she concentrated on her schooling, then moved to Toronto, where she landed roles in various projects, including television movies such as This Time Around (2003), Suburban Madness (2004), I Do, They Don’t (2005), Night of Terror (2006), and In God’s Country (2007). During that time she also made her feature film acting debut in the Disney movie Ice Princess (2005) and appeared onstage with the Soulpepper Theatre Company.

In 2007 Martha taped an audition for the hit teen comedy Superbad to send to its creators. She got the part of Becca, co-starring, fellow Canadian Michael Cera.

MacIsaac does the voice of Melosa in the animated Canadian TV series Di-Gata Defendors and also stars in The Thaw (2009), a sci-fi horror film about the fearful discoveries made by ecology students in the remote Arctic.
